The Ultimate Guide to Grand Haven: 50 Things to do on a Staycation
11. Visit a Local Art Gallery
Despite its small size, Grand Haven has a variety of exceptional art galleries and displays that support local artists.
Located on Washington Ave, Gallery Uptown is a must see attraction in downtown Grand Haven. Not only is it the oldest artist owned gallery in all of Michigan, but has also been awarded the title “Best Gallery in the Grand Haven area” for an impressive ten years in a row. Every month, Gallery Uptown hosts a reception to unveil their newest themed display. If you want to learn how to paint with pastels, stop by The Grand Haven Area Arts Council on Wednesdays from 6:30-9pm.
If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind item to display in your home, C2C Gallery is the place to visit. The variety of items displayed in the gallery is quite impressive and includes: ceramics, unique jewelry, paintings, photography, woodwork and many more creative works of art! All of the pieces displayed in the C2C Gallery come from Michigan artists. Want to send someone a gift from C2C Gallery after you visit? No worries! You can shop online for a huge collection of unique gifts that are sure to be a hit!
Many of these local artists also participate in Art Walk; a celebration of art in Grand Haven that is proudly supported by local businesses, artists, and residents of Grand Haven and the surrounding areas. This year’s Art Walk takes place from September 24- October 12th. There are many different events and activities that the whole family can enjoy! For more information on Art Walk, click here.
